Is it our faith or His faith that we and God are depending on?
Revelation 2:12,13 — And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith He Which hath the sharp sword with two edges, “I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan’s seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied MY faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.”
In Acts 3:16 — Peter was asked how the miracle had been performed for the crippled man at the Beautiful Gate. He explained it like this, “And His name (Jesus), through faith in His name, hath made this man strong; yea the faith which is by (from) Him (Jesus) hath given him (the man) this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.”
So, Jesus’ name and Jesus’ faith brought about the miracle. It wasn’t Peter’s faith nor was it done in Peter’s name. He said that Jesus’ name used in the faith FROM Jesus, performed the miracle.
The Lord was speaking about this faith in Rev. 2:13, HIS faith, not faith IN Him. His own faith that He had given to the believers. In Romans 12:3 –”According as God has dealt to every man the measure of faith.” Ephesians 2:8 says, “By grace are you saved through faith, and that (faith) not of yourselves, it is a gift of God.”
Secular humanism has taken over our churches, seminaries, bible colleges, etc.
There is a joke (that’s not really a joke) among the more serious Christians among us. It seems a man in dilapidated clothing was sitting on the steps of a church crying. Jesus approached and asked him what was wrong. The man replied, “They won’t let me in.” Jesus hugged him and said, “Oh don’t worry about that They kicked me out a long time ago.”
This kind of feeling has been around for quite a while and yet people keep going back to the places they feel comfortable, where they can be lulled to sleep and have someone tell them what a good person they are.
In this age of rapid degradation there are still a few who have the measure of that faith OF the Lord Jesus Christ. Matthew 7:14 — “Because straight is the gate and narrow the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”
Some, greatly discredited, have used that faith in acts of power and withstood those who dared to say they were saved simply on the grounds of joining a church.
You can’t be a halfway Christian, any more than you could be a black/white bird, a dove/crow mix. You can’t serve two masters, and I tell you assuredly, you will serve somebody. It’s easier to serve the devil. He lets you go along in your own strength but with his ideas programmed in your head through the various media. He’ll let you think you’re a Christian, as long as it’s his type of “lukewarm, church on Sunday/ live like the world the rest of the week” Christian.
