Hurricane Dorian Barrels Towards Florida – Bahamas Get Direct Hit

Monday 9/2/2019 – Hurricane Dorian may be one of the top two largest and strongest hurricanes ever to be recorded.  During the night Dorian slowed down from 185mph to 165 mph,  moving westward at 1 mph towards Florida.

The Bahamas got a direct hit from Dorian, with high wind, rain, flooding and storm surges (up to 18 feet).  Some waves were reported 23 feet high.

The hurricane seems to be sitting stationary over the Grand Bahama Island.  The storm is expected to move north on Monday and weaken slightly as it gets closer to the United States.

Weather Nation on Pluto TV reported lost of life in the Bahamas on Sunday.

The entire coast of South Carolina will be under a mandatory evacuation order starting Monday at noon.
South Carolina and Georgia have announced mandatory evacuation orders for some 1,000,000.

Hurricane Dorian Update Statement


At 8:00 AM EDT (1200 UTC), the eye of Hurricane Dorian was located by NOAA Doppler radar near latitude 26.7 North, longitude 78.2 West.  Dorian is moving toward the west near 1 mph (2 km/h). 

A slow westward to west-northwestward motion is forecast during the next day or so, followed by a gradual turn toward the northwest and north.  On this track, the core of extremely dangerous Hurricane Dorian will continue to pound Grand Bahama Island through much of today and tonight.  The hurricane will move dangerously close to the Florida east coast tonight through Wednesday evening.

Maximum sustained winds are near 165 mph (270 km/h) with higher gusts.  Dorian is a category 5 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale.  Although gradual weakening is forecast, Dorian is expected to remain a powerful hurricane during the next couple of days. . . .    More here!
