Judge Throws Out Guilty Verdict Against Flynn’s Lobbying Partner

According to court documents, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia has thrown out the case against Bijan Rafiekian, Flynn’s partner in alleged illegal lobbying activity.  A jury convicted Mr. Rafiekian but the judge ended up throwing out the case for a lack of evidence.

On July 23, 2019, Rafiekian was convicted by a jury of one count of conspiracy and one count of acting in the U.S. as an unregistered agent of a foreign government, namely Turkey.

The defendant asked the court for an acquittal at the close of the case and renewed a motion for the court to annul all the evidence of the case.  The court decided favorably for the defendant.

We will keep you updated on the Flynn case to see if this decision changes Flynn’s pleadings in court.
