When the government is no longer governing at the consent of the governed…
That’s what Yale political scientist James Scott calls the passive resistance of a society that doesn’t like what its rulers are doing to it. In his book “Two Cheers for Anarchy,” he writes, “One need not have an actual conspiracy to achieve the practical effects of a conspiracy. More regimes have been brought, piecemeal, to their knees by what was once called ‘Irish Democracy,’ the silent, dogged resistance, withdrawal and truculence of millions of ordinary people, than by revolutionary vanguards or rioting mobs.”
Irish Democracy is when the populace simply doesn’t cooperate with the agenda. Sometimes there is active sabotage, sometimes surreptitious monkey-wrenching, sometimes foot-dragging and sometimes outright noncompliance. Sometimes it’s all of those at once.
Right now, we are seeing some of that in response to vaccine mandates, mask rules and various other forms of population control that have been adopted since the pandemic struck. Go almost anywhere with a mask mandate, and you will see some people not wearing masks at all, daring anyone to do anything about it (often, they don’t)…
Some on the left are calling those who resist the regime names like “domestic terrorists,” but that doesn’t carry much weight anymore. With the left having spent a decade calling everyone Hitler, “domestic terrorist” barely registers. (And given the Biden administration’s craven surrender to the real terrorists in Afghanistan, some Americans might be forgiven for thinking that if they get called terrorist enough, they will be in line for the basket of goodies Biden is giving the Taliban.)
I got the shot, but the bullying has become insufferable and counterproductive…
Read the whole thing.
The COVID mandates are the proverbial ‘toe in the water’ of the Marxist “Great Reset” movement in our country. Look for commerce mandates amid the shortages and inflation. I am seeing calls for Germany to ban the un-vaxxed from going shopping in the stores. Well, you already see what is being done to workers refusing the vax here in the U.S. Look for fuel usage mandates as energy prices climb to prohibitive rates. This is the Orwellian and Huxley-an dystopia they have ready and waiting to inflict on the masses. Oh, and if you still think you are safe in the suburbs, think again, America…
NYTimes: Where the Suburbs End: A single-family home from the 1950s is now a rental complex and a vision of California’s future. … It’s on the pay-side so I can’t get deep into it. But the premise of the title brings to mind that scene in Doctor Zhivago where Yuri returns to his home and the Russian Revolution commies have taken it over and moved multiple families into single rooms of the gutted and defaced mansion. But as far back (maybe farther) as the Obama era the goal has been to obliterate the suburbs and force people back into full-on inner city living. It is still the master plan.
The same people who shuttered “non-essential” businesses and locked down the economy are now coming for your single-family home.
Having eradicated so much liberty under Covid, you can bet that the left feels confident they can forcibly re-shape our housing habits. These words from the NY Times are honest, but chilling: “But the process will be difficult…”
Pol Pot smiles. I think he’d say the process wasn’t that difficult, just messy.
In a Kurt Schlicter column linked by J.J. this past Tuesday there was this great quote:
“There is no conservative principle worth honoring that makes us less free. I find the notion that we are somehow morally obligated to accept serfdom because the entity exercising mastery over us has articles of incorporation instead of a flag to be baffling.”
Liberty is about liberty. There is no principle that requires free people to surrender their liberty, be it to a government, a religion, or a cartel of monopoly businesses.
Along those lines, “Safety-ism,” combined with panic, and mixed together with an inability to understand probability and risk, will lead us to a world of subservience.
In my former neighborhood in Austin (my wife and I have since decamped to a politically conservative area), I would constantly see young parents pushing or jogging their children in strollers, on the asphalt of fairly busy streets, with their backs to oncoming traffic. (Even when there was a sidewalk!) Plus, they usually had ear buds in. These are the same people who will not let non-organic food touch their children’s lips, and who wouldn’t drive one block in their car without their children strapped into their car seats. Such people are not capable of properly assessing risk for themselves, yet these types of people constitute our ruling class…

And carrying on along Throckmorton’s line of thinking, I discovered this bit yesterday in a search for something else. It’s five years old, but very relevant today during this Great COVID Reset being imposed on us and our freedoms and independence/individuality…
The most unrealistic and insane thing you will read this year. I am having a hard time figuring out if writer Ida Auken, member of Social Democrats socialist political party in Denmark, was ‘hopeful’ or ‘foreboding’ in it. I strongly encourage you to click and read, because this is just one of countless many, especially at the U.N. and the globalist cultists here in the U.S., that seek to club us in the heads in every aspect of our lives/existence and force us into…
The world was indeed like this once, a very long-long time ago. Huge numbers of people/generations were enslaved/oppressed/victimized/brutalized/impoverished/helpless and at the ‘pleasure’ of those who held all the power and the “services” humans need to exist, and the people had no power or means to rise above it for themselves and their children. It is the primary reason why in this 21st century some of the most impoverished areas of the globe are just that, oppressed by dictatorial (communist) governments and criminal cartels. No amount of high-minded thinking will ever make Auken’s scenario the utopia she thinks it might be … not without mass medical/drug/technological mind control of the masses (think George Lucas’s “THX 1138” or maybe even “Stepford Wives” but for everyone). And by her last couple of paragraphs she ALMOST realizes that and ALMOST has doubts, but I ponder she would find those self-sacrifices all worth the promise of human idleness and aimlessness, just a life of existing at the mercy of an unnamed human overseer who will put certain people into positions of unpaid serfdom to manufacture everything that utopian Shangri-La would allegedly be providing, especially to those she claims wouldn’t need to work.
Auken addresses this, somewhat, after her socialist daydream was published to scoffing reviews (Wiki sourced)…
In 2016, Auken wrote a piece for the World Economic Forum (WEF) titled “Welcome to 2030. I own nothing, have no privacy, and life has never been better”. In an update clarifying the intention behind the piece, she said “Some people have read this blog as my utopia or dream of the future. It is not. It is a scenario showing where we could be heading – for better and for worse. I wrote this piece to start a discussion about some of the pros and cons of the current technological development. When we are dealing with the future, it is not enough to work with reports. We should start discussions in many new ways. This is the intention with this piece.”
She never added that alleged angle of it in her prose, nowhere— beginning, middle, or at the end of it.
Jennifer Liu: Workers quitting en masse is ‘a great thing,’ says workplace happiness expert—here’s why: Jenn Lim has made a career out of helping people be happier at work. … Jesus Lord, save us from these “Progressive” addled minds.

By the way, Devine has a book coming out soon about Hunter Biden’s laptop computer(s) (yes, there are more than one) … Laptop from Hell: Hunter Biden, Big Tech, and the Dirty Secrets the President Tried to Hide – Hardcover – November 30, 2021. And she says ‘you ain’t seen nothing yet’ as to what is on the original computer that her paper, The New York Post, broke the story on and was censored from social and mainstream media a year ago over. I may buy it, when it comes out in paperback.
Tyler O’NEIL: Majority of Virginia parents want a say in their kids’ education, Fox News poll finds: Democratic gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe said parents should not tell schools what to teach … I would sure like to hear the reasoning parents who were in the minority on the poll had for not having a say in their kids’ education.
Michael Lee: Vaccine mandates for students opposed by 7 out of 10 parents, poll finds: Sixty-eight percent of respondents that have children under 18 said they do not believe the vaccine should be mandatory
Leah Barkoukis: Victor Davis Hanson Has a Prediction About Midterms Democrats Won’t Want to Hear … Yeah, we hope, but as I have said, I have more than an inkling there will undoubtedly be some ‘tactics’ used, much like in 2020, to guarantee democrats do not lose.
Larry Johnson: Most Americans Do Not Understand the Horror of the Coming Inflation Wave … It’s here, and about to get far worse.
Katie Pavlich: Wait… Heating Bills Are About to Go Up By How Much?
Victor Davis Hanson: Is America Becoming Rome Versus Byzantium? Our Byzantine interior and Roman coasts are quite differently interpreting their shared American heritage as they increasingly plot radically divergent courses to survive in scary times.
